The Provost's Council on the Advancement of Women and Minority Faculty meets once per semester to continue to play a role as an advisory board to the Office to Advance Women, Equity & Diversity.
Two goals are associated with the Council:
- To examine the actual application of the policies and their effect on institutional climate, particularly as concerns women and other underrepresented groups (ethnic and racial minorities, LGBT people, those with disabilities, etc.) Interviews with faculty and administrators will be used to examine the effect of and effectiveness of the policies.
- To propose changes to current policies or to propose new policies intended to create a more positive and inclusive institutional climate at FIU for all faculty.
The process of recruiting new council members is underway.
